Work Begins on Phase Two of TEDA Tirana – Veliaj: 5,000 to 7,000 people will be employed
Phase Two of TEDA Tirana: Investments and Thousands of Jobs
The second phase of TEDA Tirana has officially begun, marking an important milestone for Albania’s economic and technological development. The country’s first Free Economic Zone is taking its final shape and is expected to generate between 5,000 and 7,000 jobs.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, stated that this phase will include the construction of all administrative buildings, including customs, tax offices, and municipal services. For the first time, a local public authority is managing a Free Economic Zone, creating a new development model in Albania.
The zone will be organized into functional parcels, where each company will have its own dedicated space for economic activity. Furthermore, the one-stop-shop concept ensures that all administrative services are provided within the same area.
TEDA Tirana and the jobs of the future
TEDA Tirana is primarily focused on the jobs of the future, with a strong emphasis on data centers, information technology, artificial intelligence, and the IT sector. According to Veliaj, Tirana has the potential to become a regional hub for data centers in the Balkans.
Several companies from Israel and European Union countries have already expressed interest in establishing operations in the zone, further strengthening TEDA Tirana’s international profile.
Support for youth and digital education
The Municipality of Tirana is simultaneously investing in human capital development. Courses at the TUMO Center are offered 100% through scholarships, giving young people the opportunity to prepare for digital careers at no cost.
This model directly connects education with the labor market and increases Albania’s competitiveness in technology and innovation sectors.
TEDA Tirana’s potential for investors
The Economic and Technological Development Zone represents significant potential for attracting foreign direct investment. Through advanced industries and fiscal incentives, TEDA Tirana aims to expand Albania’s manufacturing and technology sectors.
