Albania signs agreement with Israel on Technology and Innovation – Rama: The EU has opened a window for us, a historic moment and an opportunity that will not come twice
The agreement between TEDA Tirana and Israel marks an important step for Albania’s technological development and European integration process. Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that the country will not lose a single day in its path toward membership in the European Union, describing this moment as historic.
The agreement was signed between TEDA Tirana and the Israeli company H.A.P.I Advanced Technologies LTD, with the aim of creating the largest digital data center in the region. This investment strengthens Albania’s role as a strategic hub for technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation.
The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Israeli Ambassador to Tirana Galit Peleg, Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja, as well as representatives of partner institutions.
Technology as a driver of European integration
Prime Minister Rama underlined that technology and artificial intelligence are key tools for accelerating Albania’s EU negotiation process. Through an instrument developed in cooperation with Microsoft, Albania aims to adapt European legislation more quickly and efficiently.
According to him, the European Union has opened a window of opportunity for Albania, which must be fully utilized without delay. Any postponement could risk this unique geopolitical moment.
Israel as a strategic innovation partner
Rama praised Israel’s development in technology and innovation, stressing that the country’s success is driven by knowledge and investment in advanced technologies. These investments, he said, are welcome and help Albania meet EU standards.
Strategic agreements with Israel include fields such as artificial intelligence, information technology, and data centers, creating new opportunities for students and academic institutions in Tirana.
TEDA Tirana and economic impact
According to Minister Blendi Gonxhja, TEDA Tirana is a strategic project with an investment value of over 100 million euros, spread across 35 hectares between Vaqarri and Kashar. The zone aims to attract foreign investment in technology, automotive industry, innovation, and manufacturing.
The project is expected to generate up to 7,000 jobs, with competitive salaries and a focus on high value-added sectors. More information about the investment climate can be found at the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA).
For investors and international partners, this agreement further strengthens Albania’s position as a sustainable destination for technological development in the Balkans.
